Bush Lies

Posted by Jahrun Chilam Balam

Bush lies big and Bush lies small.
Bush lies to Congress,
Bush lies to us all.
Bush lies about taxes,
Bush lies about war.
Bush lies are deadly to Americans and more.

Bush has pioneers,
Bush has his rangers,
but to his dead soldiers,
Bush is a stranger.
Bush doesn't apologize,
Bush doesn't say why.
Bush just covers it up with another Bush lie.

Bush has other liars, for instance Condalezza.
Have we been neo-conned just to please her?
Heathcare's not important, or couldn't you tell,
Bush thinks the elderly should all just get well.
Terrorists are here and terrorists are there,
Axis of evil, Bush gives a blank stare.
Bush says we'll get 'em, and "we're on the look"
America might be safer if Bush could just read a book.

Bush has to hurry, Bush has to be quick
Before too many wise-up to the Bush trick.
Bush lies make his friends richer,
Bush lies make us poor.
He'll know the truth when we show him the door.
America needs leaders, let's make the right pick.
America has had enough of Bush and of Dick.

A patriot loves his country, not its government. The truth is that it is the protesters, it is the dissidents, it is the millions of peaceful marchers and citizens here at home on American soil who fight the honorable fight each day to defend our liberties. The best way to defend and keep your rights is to exercise and use them. The demonstrators are making sacrifices, they are risking injury from an increasingly threatening and deliberately unaccountable police state, they risk their personal liberty, safety and even their very lives to speak out in defense of our liberties and our Constitution. They deserve our highest respect and protection.

The truth is, every American citizen supports our country and defends our liberties right along side our military each day by working hard, living within the law, producing the goods and services we all depend on, and exercising our Constitutional rights. Every fireman, every plumber, every carpenter, everyone is sacrificing every day, some risking their lives as well. We sacrifice when our pockets are picked by a regime increasingly willing to transfer more of our dollars to an increasingly wealthy few, a non-working class. We sacrifice when there is not enough money for our schools and decent health care for every American because our hard earned tax dollars are appropriated to build weapons of mass destruction, to wage unjust war and to provide bribes to coerce the rest of the world to support us. We sacrifice when our leaders make us less safe by inflaming hatred against Americans and then offering us duct tape and plastic sheets to protect ourselves. We sacrifice when our government commits terrorism in our name. We sacrifice each time our government kills in our name. We sacrifice when our government becomes arrogant and acts as if it were above the law.

Yes we all sacrifice. In return, all we expect and demand from our leaders, to whom we grant our enormous power, is that they serve us and not rule us. This why we became America in the first place. Although it is doubtful he ever knew it to begin with, Mr. Bush has apparently forgotten his place. Our government apparently has forgotten it's place as well but it should have known better. When our government is committing unjustified, immoral acts, when our government itself threatens the very freedoms we all live, fight and die for, when our government stops listening to us and starts lying to us, it is our duty as Americans to speak out. It is our duty to protest. It is our duty to do whatever it takes to defend our country. Only a fool could doubt the patriotism and honor of that sacrifice.

Gifts - Poetry by Cherie

Posted by Jahrun Chilam Balam

A man whose heart spins in his head
Without control and without dread
A man of privacy a man of passion
Someone you want to meet when he's perfecting his fashion

To walk one day in his shoes
Experiencing the height and depths of his blues
Walk beside him for a few steps
Breathe in his philosophies and have to catch my own breaths

Understanding the man I think I see
To discover he has been hiding so much from me
Behold the butterfly casting away from the cocoon
Watch a beautiful creature dance, moan and swoon

Sweeping through the warm spring air
Catching each breeze and so unaware
Flying freely with a heart ransomed but never lost
Believing this truly is life redeemed beyond any cost

The man is stronger than ever before
Reached out beyond his hopes and beyond his front door
Never expecting the gifts he would receive
Deep love walked in and a friendship that never will leave.

Soul Lover - Poetry by Cherie

Posted by Jahrun Chilam Balam

You embody the crevices of my mind
In the dreamy memories of the soul I want to find
Dwell within the tender part of my heart
Create in me the things I strive to impart

When the door slams shut and it seems the world is cold and dark
I just turn around and discover a world that is far from stark
Treading lightly on fragile ice that covers the waters of death
Inhaling the scent of you with every breath

Your presence surrounds me giving me chills
The sensations I feel are stronger than drink or any pills
My soul lover embrace my spirit and dance with me
Climb up the walls of my heart and set me free

Forsaking the vows I made the day I left my soul behind
Never expecting to discover the wholeness I could find
You sweep me out of the shadows embracing the light
The powerful connection I feel I cannot fight

Stir within my soul the life I think I have lost
Touch me please, I need to know it is all worth the cost
Waiting for a sign that an eternal love could start
Wanting you to see that I will never betray your heart
